BURLEY – Our beloved husband, father, and brother, Rockland K Judd, age 59, of Burley, found peace and rest on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, after a long and valiant battle with multiple health problems.
Rockland “Rocky” was born Oct. 24, 1953, in Burley Idaho, the first son of Glenn Clark and Alene Joy (Litson) Judd. He was preceded in birth by Sanie Sue Judd (Baker) and followed by Litson “Randy” Judd, both of Burley, Idaho. Rocky grew up south of Burley on his parents’ poultry farm. Growing up, he loved the land and was happiest when he was out on the farm or driving his old International Scout in the mountains with his buddies, Tim, Dave and Rell. Rocky was very proud of the fact that he earned his private aircraft pilot’s license at the age of 16. He always loved airports and flying. He attended Burley schools, graduating in 1972. He then went on to attend Boise State. Rocky served an honorable mission to the California Anaheim/San Diego area, meeting many lifelong friends and serving our Heavenly Father. While in high school, Rocky worked at Hall’s True Value in Burley. There, he caught the attention of the boss’ daughter and after he returned from his mission they began dating seriously.
Rockland and Ellen Hall were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah LDS Temple on Jan. 20, 1977. They resided in Wendell, Idaho, where Rocky managed the Hall’s True Value Store in town, owned a glass shop, and did custom farming. In December of that same year their first child was born. Camille was the highlight of their life and the newlyweds had such fun being new parents. Two years later a son, Joseph Ryan, was born. This sweet boy passed away when he was three months old. It was soon after this that Rocky started his lifelong battle with illness when he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 27. After several years of aggressive treatment, he enjoyed temporarily improved health. The family lived in Burley from 1983-1986, then moved to Rexburg, Idaho, where Rocky’s love of flying led him to aviation mechanic school. Rocky was a great friend to many and lots of fun memories were made while in Rexburg.
In 1989, Rocky moved the family back to Burley and in 1990, they moved to the home south of Burley where he resided until his death. Rocky spent a good portion of his working life as a bookkeeper for area businesses. It was during this time that he and Ellen were blessed with two more sons, Ethan in 1994, and Aaron in 1996. They were perfect additions to the family and Rocky loved his boys.
From 2001 to 2006, Rocky enjoyed crisscrossing the country in an 18-wheeler. He loved seeing the landscape and talking to people.
Rocky and Ellen were members of the LDS Church in Springdale, Unity, and Pella Wards in Burley where Rocky served as a Young Men leader, stake Sunday school president, and as a ward and stake clerk. He met and influenced many boys and had fun teaching them about the outdoors and Scouting. Rocky had an unending love for his children and his greatest moments were watching Camille perform music, Ethan run, and just hanging out with Aaron. He loved guns, flying, watching old westerns, spending time at the cabin in Junction, going to the mountains in his pickup and camper, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, and hot tubbing. Unfortunately, during much of his life he was not able to actively do these things because of his poor health.
Rocky is survived by his wife of nearly 36 years, Ellen K. Judd; his children, Camille (Hollis) Pincock, of Carey, Idaho, Ethan C Judd and Aaron M Judd both of Burley; his siblings, Sanie (Rell) Baker and Litson (Sharon) Judd all of Burley; his grandchildren, Abigail, Joseph, Kathryn, and Julia Pincock of Carey, Idaho; and by his wife’s parents, Forrest and Kathryn Hall of Burley.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Alene Judd; and his son, Joseph Ryan Judd.
Rocky’s family would like to give their appreciation to the staff at Davita Dialysis, Life Run Ambulance and Cassia Regional Medical Center emergency room staff, St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center, Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah, and all of his great friends that have supported him throughout his life.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Pella LDS Church, 160 W. 400 S., of Burley, with Bishop Rodney Lake officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
