OAKLEY – Elizabeth Jacobsen Critchfield Burch, 95, of Oakley, went home to her heavenly father peacefully on March 4, 2016, at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.

Elizabeth was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Elba, Idaho, to Lawrence and Gertrude Jacobsen.
She grew up and attended elementary school in Elba. One of nine children, she and her brothers and sisters would walk or ride horses three miles to and from school. At the age of 15, her family moved from Elba to Albion, Idaho, where she attended high school. Dances and movies were her main entertainment.

Lib met Ned Critchfield of Oakley, Idaho at one of those dances in Albion, and they were married Dec. 15, 1938, in Oakley. Ned and Lib made their home in Oakley, where they operated the Tavern and Arctic Café for many years. They also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family. Although they were never privileged to have children of their own, they had many nieces and nephews they helped raise. Lib lost Ned July 10, 1991 after 53 years of marriage.

On Feb. 4, 1994, Lib married longtime friend and neighbor, Golden Burch. Golden and Lib really enjoyed each others’ company, and they also enjoyed participating in all activities of the community, as well as landscaping and working in their beautiful yard. Lib lost Golden Feb. 2, 2004.

Lib was an active member of the LDS Church; she always enjoyed her Temple visits and work. Her church family and her friends were always an important part of her life.

Lib was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Gertrude Jacobsen; both husbands, Ned Critchfield and Golden Burch; eight siblings, Irene, Hanna, George, Richard, Ora, Albert, Emma and Jay.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at the Oakley LDS Stake Center, 355 N. Center Ave., in Oakley, with Bishop Doug Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
