BURLEY – Our much loved husband, father and grandfather was called home at the age of 61, on Thursday, March 17, 2016, to be with our Heavenly Father, surrounded by his loving family, in Boise, Idaho.

Kris was born on April 25, 1954, in Burley, Idaho, to Ira LaVon and Barbara Jean Stimpson Hansen. He was the second child of five (3 sisters and 1 brother). He grew up and attended school in Heyburn and Rupert. After graduating high school, he attended Auto Body Tech School, in Logan, Utah, this is where he found his love for mechanic work and fixing and painting cars. He married his best friend and soul mate, Rose Mary Thurston, on June 27, 1975, in Burley. The couple moved west of Burley where they raised their family.

Kris and Rose are the parents of three children. Eli (Rachel) Hansen of Burley, Ciara (Tyler) Reidhaar, of Boise and Andrea (Bob) Story, of Heyburn. Kris was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his children while they were young doing anything outdoors. You could often find the family camping in the mountains, riding dirt bikes, spending time at the family cabin and fishing. Spending time with his family was most important to him, even if that meant bringing his kids with him to work, while laying brick, working on cars and or working in the yard, which he had plenty of. Kris began to be blessed with grandchildren, who spent time with their grandpa every day. He loved taking his Grandsons fishing, to the river, on four wheeler rides and teaching them all he knew. His granddaughters were his princess’s. He spoiled each and every single one of them. Kris was happiest when he was with his grandchildren.

Kris was employed with Amalgamated Sugar Company in 1986, and stayed with them until his health declined in 2007. After that, he continued laying brick on homes and spending time in his shop where he was an avid painter and mechanic. He passed on his knowledge of cars, masonry and family first, to his children.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Hansen of Burley; his children, Eli Hansen (Rachel) of Burley, Ciara Reidhaar (Tyler) of Boise, and Andrea Story (Bob) of Paul; eight grandchildren, Jordi Hansen, Jaxson Hansen, Tru Hansen, Mickeala Scheffner, Rylee Reidhaar, Evan Story, Brooklyn Story, and Makai Story; and three siblings, Kathy Morris (Steve) of Burley, Kraig Hansen (Billie Jo) of Emigrant, Mont., and Cindy Hansen of Layton, Utah.

Kris was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dixie Hansen.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Star LDS Church, 100 S. 200 W., of Burley, with Bishop Chris Seibold officiating. Burial will be in the Declo Cemetery.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. (There will be no visitation prior to the service at the church.)
