James Boyd Fox James Fox

RUPERT - James Boyd Fox, 87, of Rupert, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, May 31, 2016, at Countryside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Rupert.

Jim was born in Cedar City, Utah, Feb. 8, 1929; the son of John Henry and Vinnie Frances Mangum Fox. He attended and completed his education at Burley High School. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served honorably in the United States Marine Corp. He married the love of his life, Virginia Gurr, Sept. 2, 1955, in Burley. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple, Sept. 2, 1987.

Following marriage, Jim worked at Western Seed in Burley and Heyburn, for several years, then transferred to the Boise Cascade Box Plant where he worked as a supervisor. He completed his professional career with the J. R. Simplot Company where he was the manager of safety and security. After his first retirement, he continued with the company in Sun Valley as the caretaker of the Simplot Lodge.

Jim was a member of the B.P.O.E. and was a past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as branch president of the Sun Valley Branch, and with his wife, Ginger, served as a temple worker in the Boise Idaho and Twin Falls Idaho LDS Temples.

He was a cowboy at heart and enjoyed riding horses. The out-of-doors was a favorite place for Jim where he golfed, hunted, fished, and camped. His favorite time on earth was with his family and friends. Jim knew everyone and loved everyone. His smile warmed the hearts of all who knew him. His family will keep in their memories his dedication to his loving wife, his endless support of his children, and his kindness to the grandchildren.

The past several years were difficult as he adapted to the crippling effects of dementia. His last years were spent at Countryside Rehabilitation and Care Center where he received the most tender care one could ever ask for. His wife was with him nearly everyday helping him to keep familiar with his surroundings.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger Fox of Rupert; his children, Tonia (Robert) Stone of Declo, Ginger (David) Head of Eagle, and Jay B. (Lesa) Fox of Declo; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Grace Jensen of Burley.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters, Irene Hathaway and Ilene Zemke; a half-brother, John Elmer Fox; his dear friend and brother-in-law, Russell H. Jensen; and a grandson, Dustin L. Stone.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Rupert West LDS Stake Center, 26 S. 100 W., in Rupert, with Kent Evensen officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, with military honors accorded by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
