BURLEY – Larry Rex Watterson, 75, of Burley, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home, surrounded by family members.
He was born December 1, 1940, in Logan, Utah, to Rex Wesley and Mary Virginia Heyrend Watterson. Shortly after Larry was born, the family moved from Logan to Burley, where Larry resided the rest of his life. As a young man, Larry learned the value of hard work from his parents. He continued his father’s legacy of farming and excavation, and through Larry’s hard work and dedication this legacy grew and was passed on to his children. On March 12, 1964, Larry married Connie Lou Shady, with whom he shared nearly 50 years of beloved companionship until she passed away two years ago. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, March 11, 1978.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many capacities throughout his life. He also enjoyed fishing, four-wheeling, camping, drag-racing, and above all else, spending time with his family.
Dad taught us all what it meant to work hard, love our family, to have faith in the Lord, and how to giggle at the silly things in life. He was a true teacher. We love you so much! You will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Mary “Michelle” (Tony) Chapa of Boise, Rex Leon Watterson, Clint Landon (Renee) Watterson, and Owen Clay (Abrey) Watterson all of Burley; brother, Dean Watterson of Kemmerer, Wyo.; sister, Linda (Dwain) Baker of Burley; brother, Lynn (Paula) Watterson of Burley; sister, Mary (Ronald) Baker of Burley, and brother, Eric Reed (Debbie) Watterson of Heyburn; eight grandchildren, Kallie Watterson, Hayley (Nathan) Baker, Alex (Shanice) Watterson, Wylie Watterson, Kyle Watterson, Cassady Watterson, Sydee Jo Watterson, and Kolby Watterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Colleen Kay Watterson Gillette; and his beloved eternal companion, Connie.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, at the View LDS Church, 490 E. 550 S., of Burley, with Bishop Art Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the View Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
