Shellie Kay Valdez
HEYBURN – Our dear and precious daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, Shellie Kay Valdez, was called home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016. She experienced a wonderful reunion with her loving and devoted mother, brother, and family members who simply adored her.
Shellie was born Sept. 21, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Tomas Florencio “Tommy” Valdez and Joyce Carol Thompson Valdez. She was born as a special daughter of God who loved her and gave her the opportunity to receive a body and go through the experiences of life. She was cared for and taught by many people who became a special influence throughout her time here on earth. She was educated in the Minidoka County School District and continued her progression in post-academic programs.
She had an unbelievable memory and could remember her family and friends’ birthdays without hesitation. She loved to tease, had a special bond with animals, and enjoyed camping. Music played a very soothing atmosphere in her life; not only did she like church music, but found Western music to be to her liking. Another great ability Shellie had was putting puzzles together - no matter of their difficulty.
Shellie is survived by her father, Tommy Valdez of Heyburn; one brother, Mark (Andrea) Valdez of Lake Stevens, Wash.; her nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her mother, Joyce; and a brother, Ricky John Steelman.
She has now received her crown and no longer experiences the conflict of this world. She is once again completely whole and in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Heyburn LDS 1st and 2nd Ward Church, 530 Villa Dr., in Heyburn, where family and friends may call from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Officiating will be Bishop Corwin Lewis. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery.
Arrangements are being provided by the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
