RUPERT – Lee Roy Butterfield, 62, of Rupert, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016, at his home.

Lee was born Dec. 31, 1953, in Murray, Utah to Merrill L. and May Merlene Bodell Butterfield. At the age of four his family homesteaded a property on the outskirts of Paul, where he attended Paul Elementary, West Minico Junior High and graduated from Minico High School in 1972. He worked hard throughout his life as a mason and bricked many buildings in the Mini-Cassia area, which he did for many years until his recent retirement. On the side he was also a small-time farmer and rancher, and owner of Skyline Bar for ten years.

Lee was known and loved by many. His handshake was as good as a contract; his laugh was contagious and his friendly style warmed many hearts. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He enjoyed fishing, raising farm animals, treasure hunting on the desert, and he loved to sit and socialize with friends and drink his favorite beverage. He was quite an entertainer with a very clever wit.

Lee is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Susan Paul; his mother, May Butterfield: and his sister, Amy Butterfield, all of Rupert. Also survived by seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merrill Butterfield; brother, Ben Butterfield; and sister, Maida Lawrence.

In Lee’s words “drizom, drazom, drome, time for this one to go Home.” Lee, our friend, you will be greatly missed! Here’s to your last “Casper!”

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Rupert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Minidoka County Senior Citizens “Meals on Wheels” program in Lee’s name, for which Lee was a continued supporter.

A special thank you to all of his supportive friends and family members and to the Horizon Home Healthcare Group.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
