BURLEY – Jerry (JT) Matt Tolman, age 73, of Burley, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, shortly after returning home from Utah.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1943, in Oakley, Idaho, to Matt Aaron Tolman and Margie Elnora Stenson. His parents later divorced and his father, Matt, then married Marion Eleonore Powers.

Jerry married Judith Ann Thomas and together they had three boys: Jerry Matt Tolman Jr. (deceased), Tracy Leon Tolman, and Rodney Eugene Tolman. They were later divorced and he then married Katherine Deniese Tolman. Though their children were grown at the time of their union, they had the opportunity to raise two of their granddaughters, Breanna Katherine Smith (Pace) and Shawna Marie Nichol (Pace).

JT loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. Early in his career he operated a Texaco station in Burley before he branched out and opened Grandview Repair with his partner and long-term friend, Gary Nelson. He later left the business and went to work for his boss and long term-friend, Bruce Burtenshaw, at Kodiak Northwest as an electrician for 30 years before he retired to take care of his wife in her time of need.

He is survived by his best friend and love-of-his-life, Katherine Deniese Tolman; his siblings, Melvie Bean, Carol Brimhall (Keith), Linda Childs (Bruce), and Lorna Bunting (Jim); his children, Tracy Leon Tolman (Ella), Rodney Eugene Tolman (Luann), Danny Pace (Tammie), Kim Robinson (Ronny), Breanna Katherine Smith (Loren), and Shawna Marie Nichol (Jared); his grandchildren, Rocky, Josh, Tyson, Max, Alysha (Ron), Mason (Bethanee), and Rebecca; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Matt Tolman; his mothers, Margie and Marion; his brother, Ivan Avery; his brother-in-law, Les Bean; two sons, Jerry Matt Tolman Jr., and David Earl Pace; one daughter, Corinna JoAnn Pace; and two grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Fortier and Theron Wade Pace.

JT will be laid to rest in a graveside memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, at the Gem Memorial Gardens in Burley, 2435 Overland Ave. A special thanks to Rasmussen Funeral Home for their kind help during our most trying times.
