Junia Moffett Gibby
Junia Moffett Gibby (85) passed away peacefully while surrounded by family in the home of her daughter in Draper, Utah on December 10, 2016. She had cheerfully endured many years with the effects of Alzheimer’s.
Junia was born August 29, 1931, in Burley, Idaho. She attended school at the old View Elementary, Burley High School; then later attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She served as a young missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission. She married Francis D Peacock of Emery, Utah on October 10, 1957, and together they had six children. Junia married Evard C. Gibby of Burley, Idaho on June 26, 1986, and was widowed after nearly 20 wonderful years of marriage to Evard. Together Junia and Evard served in the Boise Idaho LDS Temple for ten years and they also served a family history mission in San Diego, CA.
Junia had three great loves: The gospel of Jesus Christ, her family and Idaho. Because of her deep roots in southeast Idaho, the principles she was taught by her parents, and her knowledge of God’s plan of happiness, she considered everyone family. She loved to share the Gospel message with everyone. Her home was always welcoming and inviting, no matter how humble. She welcomed everyone and made sure they were well fed. When she was married to Evard in 1986, her children witnessed how her love had no bounds. She gave her whole heart to him and to all of his children and grandchildren along with her children and grandchildren. She was the perfect example of charity as explained in the seventh chapter of Moroni in the Book of Mormon, “And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”
Her family is the legacy she leaves. They have a great responsibility to honor the woman she was, stay true to the principles she taught and to love each other with the Christlike virtues she exemplified. Each of them feel so blessed to have been loved so dearly and they look forward to the day when they will see her again and, through the healing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ, her mind will again be sharp and clear.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Vera Moffett; her brothers, Max William, Don Carlos and Wilden Waite; two grandsons, Eric Allred and Ryan Jeffries; her granddaughter, Kalli Ruston Cooper; and her husbands, Evard C. Gibby and Francis D Peacock.
She is survived by her children, Davin Dale (Patricia) Peacock of Ellensburg, Wash., Mechel (Kevin) Allred of Lehi, Utah, Mark Benjamin (Magna) Peacock of Clearfield, Utah, Marsha (Paul) Jeffries of Draper, Utah, Diane (Allan) Allphin of Springfield, Mo., Lorene (Roy) Menges of Boise, Idaho, Erin Peacock of Bend, Oregon, Geneil (Lowell) Cheney of Rexburg, Idaho, Evard (Paula) Gibby of Kimberly, Idaho, Shanna (Dave) Roper of Kimberly, Idaho, Dorcas (Joe) Anderson of Burley, Idaho, Donetta (Paul) Rushton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Von (Debra) Gibby of Burley, Idaho, Reed (Andrea) Gibby of Burley, Idaho; more than 63 greatly-loved grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
