HEYBURN - David Emilio Ortega, 28, of Heyburn, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, in Jerome County, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

David was born in Berkeley, Calif., on Dec. 13, 1988. As a young boy, he and his brother, Toby, were adopted by their great-grandparents, Frank and Vickie Ortega. He attended Heyburn Elementary, West Minico Jr. High, and completed his education at Minico High School. He loved baseball, stereos, and cars, and was a devoted uncle. He was a loving father and very much enjoyed spending time with his family - especially his daughters and son.

He is survived by his grandmother, Vickie Ortega of Heyburn; his mother, Yolanda Ballesteros of San Lorenzo, Calif.; two daughters, Aaliyah Ortega of Nampa, and Mya Ortega of Ogden, Utah and one son, Uriah Ortega of Ogden Utah; his siblings, Francisco (Carol) Ortega of Lodi, Calif., Aurora Garcia of Declo, Matthew (Denise) Ortega of Las Vegas, Nev., and Toby Rego of Heyburn.

David’s father, Frank, died shortly after David from injuries he received in the accident.

A joint funeral service for David and his father, Frank, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Mountain View Christian Center, 317 W. 27th St., in Burley, where a viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Jim Powell.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
