Date of Service: Feb. 11, 2017
MALTA – Delsie Evelyn Smith Teeter, 92, of Malta, passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Rosetta Assisted Living in Burley.
Delsie was born Dec. 1, 1924, in Malta, Idaho, the daughter of Morris Albert and Evelyn Tracy Smith. She was raised in Yost, Utah, where she attended school through the 11th grade; she then completed her education graduating from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. She married the love of her life, Cleo Golden Teeter of Yost, on July 23, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.
She had many talents; she loved to cook, clean, yard work, and tending her beautiful flower gardens. She was an expert seamstress and used her sewing and quilting skills in making absolutely gorgeous quilts. She was the cook at the Yost Grade School for many years and enjoyed her time spent with the students - watching them grow and succeed. As a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she used her outstanding homemaking skills in creating a wonderful environment for her family to enjoy. Some of her favorite outdoor pleasures were snowmobiling and spending nearly every weekend during the summers fishing at the Lynn, Utah, reservoir.
Delsie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings. She loved being a Primary teacher and, after moving to Malta following Cleo’s death, she enjoyed name extraction for family history.
She is survived by her children, JoAnn (Robert) Zaharias of Declo, Reggie (Jolene) Teeter of Yost, Utah, Carolyn Allred of Brigham City, Utah, Golden (Pam) Teeter of Oakley, Elaine (Devan) Tolman of Malta, and Kenny (Kristie) Teeter of Heyburn; many grand and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Irvin Smith of Ogden, Utah, her beloved sister, Bea Durfee of Almo, Verl (Delma) Smith of Ogden, Utah, and Clarence (Phyllis) Smith of St. George, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Bill, Eugene and Owen Smith; and two great-grandsons, Nicholas Matsen and Heath J.R. Clinton.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Malta LDS Church, 280 N. 1st St., in Malta, where family and friends may call from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Officiating will be Bishop Richard Hall. Burial will be in the Yost Cemetery.
The family would like to express special appreciation to Encompass Hospice; and Sara, Tori, Miranda, Yesenia and Crystal of Rosetta Assisted Living for the compassionate care that they provided to Delsie.
Arrangements are under the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
