BURLEY – David Earl Christensen, 54, of Burley, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, as the result of a bicycling accident in Tazewell County, Virginia.
David was born on February 26, 1963, in Burley, Idaho, to Earl and Kathryn Christensen. Raised on the family farm, David developed an incredible work ethic that he carried throughout his life. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hamburg, Germany, during which he gained a lifelong love of the German people, language, and culture.
David met his sweetheart, Kim Rodabough, while attending Brigham Young University, and they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 27th, 1985.
After graduating from BYU, David started his own cabinet and granite business in Burley, often traveling throughout the country on custom installation jobs. But if he could work hard, David could play even harder, and he was always up for adventure. He loved traveling with his family and pursuing high-energy activities like hiking, skiing, white-water rafting, and biking.
He also encouraged his wife and children to pursue their own passions and interests, and when that led them to music, he happily attended countless recitals and always enjoyed listening to them perform.
David had a big heart and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Kim; their six children, Samuel (Megan) Christensen, Rebekah (Eric) Sorensen, Eliza (Morgan) Lyons, Abigail (Logan) Hayden, Madisen Christensen, and Maxwell Christensen; his parents, Earl and Kathryn Christensen; his siblings, Dorene Allred, Dan (Melinda) Christensen, and Jay (Karla) Christensen. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harry Ward Rodabough; two brothers, Joel and Douglas Christensen; and his brother-in-law, David Allred.
To know David is to love him, and he will be dearly missed until we see him again.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Declo Stake Center, 213 W. Main, in Declo, with Bishop Brian Wilde officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church, prior to the service.
