BURLEY – Gilberto Salinas, age 85, of Burley, died Sunday, June 18, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Gilberto was born on Dec. 13, 1931, in Roswell, NM, to Juan Ybarra and Francisca Alejandro Salinas. He completed his education at Sabinal High School in Sabinal, TX. He married the love of his life, Irene Botello, July 23, 1951, in Sabinal, TX., together they had 10 children.

Throughout his life he enjoyed farm work. He also worked for Gold Star Stone Quarry for 18 years driving truck.

Gilberto was a devote member of the Catholic Church. He loved working on machinery and enjoyed farm work, he also had a love for music. But what was most important to Gilberto, was his love for his family. He always looked forward to spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Gilberto is survived by his loving wife Irene; his 10 children, Rosario Chapa of Henderson, TX, Gilberto Salinas Jr. of Rupert, Mary Naranjo of Heyburn, Bertha Salinas of Burley, Alma Ramirez of Del Rio, TX, Rudy Salinas of Dallas, TX, Tonie Gonzalez of Dallas, TX, Ricky Salinas of Glendale, AZ, Sandra Salinas of Fruitland, and Ellie Salinas of Burley; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; in addition he is survived by one brother, Ricardo Salinas of Sabinal, TX; and two sisters, Anita Rodriguez of Dexter, NM and Esperanza Borrejo of Sabinal, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Gilberto's request a private family Mass will be held at St. Theresa Little flower Catholic Church at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
