PAUL – Ronald “Ron” Guy Kindig, age 76, of Paul, Idaho, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at his home. He leaves behind his wife, Penny, of 53 years.

Ron was born and raised in Grand Island, Neb., the son of Lester Howard and Joyce (Brown) Kindig. Ron grew up working on the farm and doing anything he could to help his family. He graduated from high school in Nebraska. Immediately following, he joined the United States Marine Corps. After four years of service, he met his wife, Penny Mills, and they settled in California where Ron worked in the grocery industry for the better part of 15 years. He later moved with his family to Paul, where he opened Ron’s Market. Ron finished his career serving in law enforcement for the Minidoka County Sheriff’s Office – bettering the community in which he lived. Anyone who knew Ron understood his strong work ethic, his love for others, and his willingness to help anyone. Ron’s greatest passions included hunting, fishing, rafting, cooking, and football. Ron will be greatly missed, but remembered by all.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Kindig; one daughter, Vicki (Gordon) Stewart; a son, Dan (Stacey) Kindig; his grandchildren, Kyle (Mindy) Stewart, Emily Stewart, Katie Stewart, Laura (Jesse) Beaver, and Kelli Kindig; great-grandchildren, Kynli, Shawn, Kyson, and Adley Stewart, and Allie Beaver; along with his beloved canine companion, Willy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Ebenezer Congregational Church, 129 N. 2nd W., in Paul, with the Rev. Brandon Wallace officiating. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
