BURLEY - Connie Lou Watterson, age 70, of Burley, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Connie was born on Sept. 27, 1943, in Nampa, Idaho, the daughter of Harley Gaford and Nina Marie Hewitt Shaddy. She attended schools in Burley and graduated from Burley High School in 1961. She then received her degree in cosmetology from Idaho State University in 1962. She married Larry Rex Watterson on March 12, 1964, in Burley. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 11, 1978.

Together, Connie and Larry farmed and operated a land excavation company. Connie used her talents in hairstyling by donating countless hours at the care centers cutting and styling the hair of the residents.

She was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully throughout her life. She especially enjoyed doing family history work. Additionally, Connie enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, quilting, horseback riding, camping, fishing, roller skating, and reading. However, her top priority and number one hobby was being with her family. She was very compassionate and was always concerned about others.

Connie is survived by her husband, Larry Watterson of Burley; her children, Mary “Michelle” (Tony) Chapa of Boise, Rex Leon Watterson, Clint Landon (Renee) Watterson, and Owen Clay (Abrey) Watterson all of Burley; eight grandchildren, Kallie Watterson, Hayley (Nathan) Baker, Alex Watterson, Wylie Watterson, Kyle Watterson, Cassady Watterson, Sydee Jo Watterson and Kolby Watterson; and her siblings, Richard (Judy) Shaddy, and Joyce Maxine Scroggins both of Las Vegas, Nev.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents, Richard and Elizabeth Rombach; a nephew, Rickie Rulon Shaddy; and two siblings, Revola Harlene “Penny” Beck, and Kenneth Robert Shaddy.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the View LDS Church, 490 E. 550 S., of Burley, with Bishop Art Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the View Cemetery.
