RAFT RIVER, IDAHO – Edna May Landers, 84, of Raft River, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Ashley Manor in Chubbuck, Idaho
Edna was born on Aug. 9, 1929, at Sawtelle, Calif., the youngest child of John Ezekiel and Jennie Ellen Wilson Rowlett. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 17. On May 30, 1948, she married Adrian “Ad” LeRoy Landers. In 1953, Edna was sealed to her husband and children in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She loved the gospel and served in every calling available to her. Together, she and Ad were privileged to serve in the Virginia Richmond Mission. Sister Landers was a talented woman and a loving mother and wife. She supported her husband through college, managed the administration of her husband's many professional companies, and managed the Atlanta Georgia LDS Temple Distribution Center for many years. Her love of music gave her inspiration and comfort. She played piano, loved classical compositions, and most of all, loved the hymns. A strong and compassionate woman, her love and support touched hundreds of lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adrian LeRoy Landers; her son, Adrian LeRoy Landers, Jr.; and her sibilings, Naomi Cave, Bill Rowlette, and Harvey Rowlette.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Reginald and Shirley Landers, and Richard and Sharla Landers; daughters and sons-in-law, Ramona and Rick Mergenthaler, Cheryle and Troy Mire, Susan and Milo Call, and Tena and Rob Worthington; two sisters, Ruth Hunter, and Anna Stewart; 19 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Raft River LDS Church, 2551 E. 300 S., of Declo, where friends may call from 1 until 1:45 p.m.
Edna will be buried next to her husband in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
