PAUL – Betty Lou Mitton Poulton, 87, of Paul, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley, under the care of Intermountain Homecare.

She was born in Oakley, Idaho, on Aug. 9, 1926, the daughter of Otto Levi and Emma LaVerne (Croft) Mitton. Betty and Samual Lorenzo Poulton were married on Oct. 21, 1944, in Burley, Idaho. After working on the Poulton family farm for a few years, they moved to Roseworth, where they farmed and ranched with Truman Clark. By this time they had four girls to help out with the labor. In 1957, they were blessed with “The Big Man” William L. Poulton, whom the Lord took after ten short years.

Aside from being a dedicated homemaker, Betty also labored as a farmer, cattle woman, and factory worker at the J.R. Simplot Company. She loved to crochet, and made many different items for her children and grandchildren. She made other various crafts and arts and entered many of them in the fair exhibits. In addition to being a good seamstress, she also enjoyed gardening in her yard and caring for her pets. She made sure that her pets were spoiled.

Betty was active in her ward in the LDS Church. She performed much genealogy work, gathering names and pictures of ancestors. Establishing the family legacy was very important to her. She also enjoyed planning and participating in family reunions.

Betty is survived by her children, Diane (Terry) Peterson of Pennsylvania, Gloria (Brent) Robinson, Charlotte (Harley) Cox, and son-in-law, Bob West all of Paul; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marg Bernard of Boise.
