Bernt Ake Ingemar Kjall, age 65, of Parma, Idaho, passed away from lung cancer Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in Boise, Idaho.

Barry was born the third son to Gilbert Gustav and Gurry Val Borg (Kjall) on June 24, 1952, in Hova, Sweden. He attended high school in Hova and agricultural school at Sotasen Ag School, where he became an instructor. While attending Sotasen Ag School, he was drafted into the Swedish military and became stationed in Stockholm, Sweden from 1972-1973 as part of an equestrian calvary unit which served as guard at the castle for the royal family. He later deployed to the middle east for a United Nations peace-keeping mission in FN-Battalion 56, which took him to Palestine, Israel, Egypt, Saudia Arabia and several locations around the Suez Canal.

After his military service, he returned to Sotasen Ag. School and applied for a work Visa through an agricultural foundation that the J.R. Simplot Company sponsored. In 1977, he started learning the American techniques of agriculture; first, as a veterinarian, then farming and later, he became the supervisor of the cattle feeders and mill operators. It was during this time he courted and fell in love with his wife of 39 years, Ginger Carol Hutchison. They were married in Elko, Nevada on November 20, 1978. When Simplot sold C&Y Dairy in 1985, Barry moved to Yerington, Nevada where he was hired as Head Herdsman for Lightenburg Dairy. During this time he completed an artificial insemination program. In 1988, he went back to work for J.R. Simplot as Foreman for the Railroad Car Division with Simplot Trucking in Caldwell, Idaho. He later transferred to the Simplot potato plant in Caldwell and retired from Simplots with a full pension in 2011. Barry and Ginger spent 25 years of their marriage on a small ranch in Parma, Idaho where they raised cattle and hogs.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger; daughter, Sharla (Hank) O’Krakel of Nampa; son, Erik Kjall of Salem, Ore.; two brothers, Ulf (Elisabeth) Kjall of Sweden, Bengt (Kaisa) Kjall of Sweden; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son, Marvin Nish (Jake) Ward; and great-grandson, Tyson Zackary Jones.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Valley Vu Cemetery in Malta, Idaho. Military honors will be performed by the Mini-Cassia Veterans. A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
