Sharri Jean Blacker Sharri Blacker

HEYBURN - Sharri Jean Blacker, 58, passed away at her home in Heyburn, surrounded by her family on Friday, May 23, 2014. Sharri’s frail body succumbed to renal failure.

Sharri was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 21, 1956, to Charles Edgar and Barbara Jean Vogel Anderson. At the young age of eight, Sharri lost her precious mother. Her father later married Linda Wise Anderson. Sharri was the oldest child and often cared for her brothers and sisters, Robert Charles Anderson, Kathy Lynn (Larry) Schummer, Jodie Leigh Anderson (Everett) Lamczyk, Becky Anderson, Wayne Ray Anderson, Michele Kim (Bob) Vaughn, and Brian Keith (Christine) Anderson.

Sharri married at the very young age of 15, and gave birth to her first son, Keith Schrenk, at age 16. She then married and gave birth to Laford Earl Weeks, Adrianne Jean Jones, and Andrew Iverson Jones. When this union fell apart, Johnnie Paul Jones married and cared for Sharri and her children for 25 years. They shared many fun years together before he passed away.

At the time of her passing, Sharri was married to the love of her life, Verl William Blacker. Even though they spent their marriage with Sharri’s failing health hindering their ability to “play,” they enjoyed one another’s company and Sharri tried often to prank Verl. These two have been inseparable. Both have said many times their life is now complete.

For a good portion of her life, Sharri worked. She worked as a cook on a ranch in Nevada; this is where she met John. She worked for Price’s Café, and as a bail bondsman - which eventually led to her owning her own bail bonds office called Sharri’s Bail Bonds. Through her bonding, she met and cared for many.

She loved to sew and make clothing for her children, as well as many, many needy families. She sewed teddy bears with love, and shared those with not only family members, but others. The costumes her children wore for Halloween were sewn with love by Sharri. The family grew a fabulous garden, and she loved to preserve the food which they enjoyed in the winter.

Sharri was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In recent years, due to failing health, she wasn’t able to attend church often, however, she was able to attend the temple where she was sealed to her parents for time and all eternity. This meant so much to Sharri. She loved going to the temple.

Sharri was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Robert “Bobbie”; and her sister, Becky.

She is survived by her husband, Verl Blacker; her children, Keith Schrenk, Earl Weeks, Annie (Kevin) Miller, and Andrew Jones; a longtime family friend, Jim Haury; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at the Heyburn LDS 1st and 2nd Ward Church, 530 Villa Dr., in Heyburn, with Bishop Paul Douglass officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
