Marlin was born on Jan. 30, 1942, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Kendall Earl and Blanche Gail (Peck) Dayley. He grew up in Pella and Burley graduating from Burley High School in 1960. Marlin was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed serving in the Twin Falls Idaho LDS Temple with the youth.
Marlin was well known for his sense of humor. He always had a joke to share, and a prank forming twinkles in his eyes. In his younger years, his siblings remember him for being a constant, a friend, and always having a smile on his face. His children remember him setting an excellent example of working hard on a daily basis.
Marlin married Lois Jensen on Nov. 1, 1960, in Idaho Falls. Lois and Marlin had two children, Marilyn and David. Marlin married Pat Halbert on May 27, 1968, in Elko, Nev., and together, they had four children, Janet, Deanna, Christina, and Marlin James. Marlin then married Juanita Robinson on July 23, 1976, in Elko, Nev., and, during their marriage, they had three children, Wesley, Tyler, and Caleb.
Marlin is survived by his eight children, Marilyn (Jay) Yeggy of Boise, Janet (Darin) Driscoll of Boise, Deanna Dayley of Star, Christina (Robert) Freer of Star, Marlin James Dayley of Middleton, Wesley (Linda) Dayley of Grand Junction, Colo., Tyler (Julie) Dayley of Jerome, and Caleb (Shawnee) Dayley of Ogden, Utah; his siblings, Newell (Diane) Dayley of Provo, Utah, Lorna (George) Dufur of Boise, Ruth (Kent) Brower of Boise, Kathleen (Wayne) Bevans of Cardston, Alberta, Canada, Earl (Debra) Dayley of Pocatello, and James (Carol) Dayley of Placerville, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and 27 nieces and nephews.
