BURLEY – John-Patrick Haran, 32, passed away the afternoon of Dec. 30, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, Idaho.

John-Patrick (referred to as JP by friends and family) was born July 8, 1982, in Ogden, Utah, to John and Ann (Merkle) Haran. As a child, JP loved sports; he gained inspiration from watching his favorite athletes (Michael Jordan and Steve Largent). Every summer revolved around little league baseball. There was no sport he wasn’t involved with: football, soccer, basketball, and baseball. As a teenager, JP found great enjoyment in coaching his younger brother Joel’s flag football team. When he wasn’t playing sports, JP was running amuck with the neighborhood boys. His childhood friendships gave him great strength and love that lasted throughout his life.

JP graduated from Burley High School in 2000, and continued his education at the College of Southern Idaho, obtaining an associate’s degree in business. While attending CSI, JP made many essential friendships that he cherished for the rest of his life. He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business, followed by his MBA at Boise State University. John-Patrick resided in Meridian, Idaho, and worked as a tax accountant.

Outside of his career path, JP raised Bailey, his black lab, enjoyed traveling, and was passionate about Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. His trips took him around the United States as well as other destinations including Ireland, New Zealand, Vietnam, and China. One of JP’s fondest memories was coming out of the tunnel and onto the football field at Notre Dame Stadium while visiting South Bend, Indiana.

John-Patrick is survived by his parents, John and Ann Haran; his maternal grandparents, Frances and George Merkle; his siblings, Aaron (Sarah) Haran, Aimee (Travis) Pazaski, and Joel (Austin) Haran; as well as his godson and nephew, Caden Pazaski and niece. Emma Pazaski. John-Patrick is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Additionally, he will be missed by Carrie Belmore and her son, Michael Bivens.

John-Patrick is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Patrick and Verda Haran; and aunt, Patricia Vaden.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with the Rev. Father Julio Vicente as celebrant.

The family would like to especially thank Cheryl at Cassia Regional Emergency Department and Ben at St. Luke’s hospital for their care and assistance. To all who crossed paths in life with John-Patrick, he appreciated you.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
