BURLEY - Robert W. Pollard, an 89-year-old longtime resident of Burley, passed away Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Bob was born May 15, 1925, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Floyd H. and Dorothy L. Pritchett Pollard. They first lived in Wendell, then Twin Falls, and on to Kimberly when he was seven. Bob went to school in Kimberly and in 1943, enlisted in the United States Navy. He was in the Pacific Theatre for the duration of the war, traveling from New Zealand to Japan. He was honorably discharged at the end of World War II.

Upon arriving home, he worked for his parents at the electrical shop and attended Twin Falls Business College. At college he met Shirlee Joy Adams, the love of his life. They were married Sept. 10, 1950, in Declo, Idaho, and they were blessed with their only daughter, Pam, in December 1951.

In 1959, they came to Burley and Bob worked at the J. R. Simplot plants until his retirement in 1987. They then journeyed to Preston, Idaho, where they bought and restored a 100-year-old home. They returned to Burley in 1991 and antiqued, gardened, and worked on their home. Bob had many hobbies. He worked on wood projects, collected rocks, and loved to go camping.

On of Bob’s greatest joys was he granddaughter, Meggan. He loved to go watch her play softball and looked forward to the many, many trips to Burger King for a coke and hamburger.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirlee Pollard of Burley; his daughter, Pam and her husband, Marty Anderson of Burley; his granddaughter, Meggan Anderson of Burley; and many special nieces and nephews.
