BURLEY – Betty Jo Ziegler Carpenter, age 89, of Burley, died March 2, 2015, at Highland Estates in Burley.

She was born October 17, 1925, to Gladys & Alvin Ziegler in Fowler, Colorado. As a young woman she met Virgil Carpenter, and on January 1, 1943; they were married in Cañon City, Colo. Not long after this they moved to Idaho where Betty made her home and raised her family. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the nursing home in Wendell for many years and was very fond of her memories there. She also spent several years cleaning rooms in Sun Valley and had some interesting stories about the people she met and things she saw while there.

Later in life she met Richard Kelling, and they spent many years enjoying each other’s company, whether it was going to Jackpot, or playing her organ, which she enjoyed.

Betty is survived by her children, Larry (Shirley) Carpenter of Jerome; Alvin (Mary) Carpenter of Malta; Bruce (Jeanette) Carpenter of Gooding; Lorene (Dick) Sedlacek of Nampa; Dorene (Lyle) Bullock of Jerome; sister, Doris Snyder of Colo.; numerous grandchildren, great -grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Carpenter; parents Gladys and Alvin Ziegler; two sons, Gary and Ronnie Carpenter; sister, Dorothy Higbee; granddaughter, Sherry Carpenter; grandsons, Lawrence Carpenter Jr. and Roy Allen Carpenter; and her companion later in life, Richard Kelling.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, at the Shoshone Cemetery.
