BURLEY - Sandra Dee Christensen, 51, of Burley, Idaho, passed away on Sunday morning, May 10, 2015, due to a recent illness. Her passing creates a large void in the lives of many, many people who are family, friends, and acquaintances.
Sandra was genuinely sweet and kind, full of spunk, and a real spitfire when warranted. Sandra has been a fighter her whole life; as she has faced learning challenges, emotional challenges and at last, health challenges. Though deeply affected by things with which she struggled, she was remarkably resilient and met her life with a dry sense of humor. She had a strong sense of caring, compassion, and a boundless desire to help others.
Sandra was born Nov. 19, 1963, and grew up in Burley attending schools locally. After graduating from high school, she worked at various places including Del Monte and Deseret Industries. For two years she lived in Nampa, Idaho, and Klamath Falls, Ore., where she established good friends and great fondness for the areas. The remainder of her adult life, she has lived in Burley in her childhood home.
She loved to embroidery, quilt and crochet, as well as doing ceramic projects and scrap books. She participated in serving as a Pink Lady, sang in many choirs, and liked to go bowling. She enjoyed collecting jewelry, purses, watches, and rings. She also loved her pets - her dogs and cats that were treated like children.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in compassionate service, as librarian, a visiting teacher, and a Primary teacher. She enjoyed attending the LDS temple regularly.
She thoroughly enjoyed being with the people in her life - her friends and family; a large network of people that cared deeply for her. For her, nobody was a stranger. She abundantly shared her talents, her love, her friendship, and a little sass. Her smile and her laughter were infectious and will be keenly missed. She is now with friends and dear loved-ones who have gone before her. She is at last free from her frustrations and struggles.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Howard Don Christensen, and her mother, Barbara Jean Craythorn Christensen. She is survived by her sister, Cindy Kay Beagle (Robert-deceased) of Mesa, Ariz.; her brother, Don H. Christensen of Paul, Idaho; two nieces; and one nephew.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Burley LDS Stake Center, 2050 Normal Ave., in Burley, with Bishop Mark A. Dowdle officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church.
