Shannon MarJean Briggs Egan
BURLEY - Shannon MarJean Briggs Egan, 60, of Burley, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by lots and lots of loved ones on Friday, May 15, 2015.
Shannon was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Wallace Orval and MarJean Johnson Briggs. From around the age of 12, she worked along-side her mother at her part-time job in the Malta Café until she graduated from Raft River High School. Later, she worked for Smith's Food King for approximately 15-20 years making cakes, though she had her hand in many other tasks, she mainly worked in the office. She also worked for Magic Valley Foods and most recently, Moyle Mink and Tannery where she had many friends and was regarded as an appreciated office employee.
Shannon married Jeff Wood on Aug. 1, 1980, and had one daughter, Victoria Jean Wood. Shannon and Jeff divorced in 1991.
Her true sweetie found her in August of 2000 when he introduced himself to, not the girl next door, but the beautiful new neighbor across the road. About a week later, he invited her to dinner in Jackpot, Nevada. They were together ever since and were married May 9, 2015, "in Gerald's home in which he made me feel was ours." Many family members and friends were in attendance. The honeymoon was lovely overlooking their backyard and lilacs. Shannon loved camping and traveling with Gerald - anything, as long as they were together. They enjoyed a recent trip in February driving through the Valley of Fire and a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. They've taken cruises to Santa Catalina Island, the Yucatan Peninsula, and Puerto Vallarta, among others. Shannon lived a happy life - always a positive outlook to the very end. When she wasn't gallivanting around the country, she was always on a project such as, crocheting, sewing, canning, entering 1st place ribbon-winning still-life photographs, and purses made of the ribbon from VHS tapes into the Cassia County Fair and Rodeo. She was an inventive and creative crafter; her handmade work will be treasured for years to come.
Shannon is survived by her husband, Gerald E. Egan; daughter, Victoria Jean Wood; step- daughters, Wkl Edgerly (Bobby), Ada-ze Hickman (Fred), Xko Gonzalez (Chris), and Zya McKenzie (Del); one sister, Kelly Jo Rose (Dean); her brothers, Michael George Briggs (Sharolyn), Terry Wallace Briggs (Darlene), Jeffery Lee Briggs (Anne), Craig Elmo Briggs -deceased, and Allan Richard Briggs (Marion -deceased); her father-in-law, Vaughn Egan (Beulah -deceased); sisters-in-law, Kimberly Whitaker (Justin), Darlene Hoedt (Jeff), Julene Bell (Carl), and Vonetta Dunham (Jack); and her children at heart, Bret James Allen, Jennifer Svancara, and Erin Roseanne Phillips.
A wake has already taken place.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 18, at the Pleasant View Cemetery, 1645 E. 16th St., in Burley with Bishop Adam Haynes officiating.
A special thanks to Marta, Lee, and Ryan Moyle.
