Roland Lee Zollinger
Sublett - Loving father and devoted husband, Roland Lee Zollinger, age 61, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015, after a horse-riding accident.
Roland was born April 2, 1954, in Burley, Idaho, and grew up on the family farm in Sublett, Idaho. After graduating from Raft River High School, Roland attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and Utah State University in Logan, Utah, eventually earning a bachelor’s degree in animal science. After graduating from college, Roland returned home to the family farm to care for his ailing mother. In 1988, Roland met and married Kathy Harper, also an alumnus of Raft River High School, in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple. Roland continued to work on the family farm and he and Kathy had three children, Todd, Austin, and Brandi.
Roland was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many different capacities. Roland especially enjoyed working with the young men of Malta, as evidenced by his years as a Scout leader and his long-lasting relationships with the young men.
His life was marked by his love and service for those around him. He will be sorely missed by those touched by his life, no matter how long he was in their lives. He seemed to make friends wherever he went.
Roland was preceded in death by his mother, Theda Mary Almond Zollinger; his father, Asiel Aaron Zollinger; and his stepmother, Ruth Nye Magnelli Zollinger.
Roland is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Todd (Samantha) Zollinger, Austin Zollinger, and Brandi Zollinger; and his siblings, Bill (Chris) Zollinger, Hazel (Dave) Isolampi, Carol (Phil) Haws, Cathy (Lynn) White, and Russell (Patty) Zollinger.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Malta LDS Church with Bishop Dallan Spencer officiating. Roland will be buried in the Sublett Cemetery near his lifelong home.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.
