BURLEY - Lanny Rupert Willis, 69, of Burley, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Lanny was born in Holbrook, Ariz., June 5, 1946, the son of Rupert Bryant and Agaytha E. (Nunnally) Willis. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sacramento in political science and served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He married Catherine Louise Dondero, in Riverside, Calif., June 27, 1970. Together, Lanny and Catherine were the loving parents of two sons, Justin and Curt.

Lanny had the unique privilege in life to provide for his family by working as a banker and a rancher. He was involved with ranching for 25 years and worked as a banker for 20 years. Throughout his life he lived in the states of Arizona, California, and Idaho.

Lanny will always be remembered for his loyalty to family and friends. We all have great memories of barbeques in his backyard and at the ranch, laughing and eating. His favorite pass-times included hunting, fishing, and gardening; but his passion was ranching and taking care of his cows and land.

Lanny is survived by his wife Catherine; sons, Justin L. (Neelie) Willis, and Curt D. (Courtney) Willis, both of Twin Falls; four grandchildren; sister, Carole G. (Lynn) Evenson of Boise; brothers, Gary D. (Cindy) Willis of Mesa, Ariz., and Rod W. (Gayla) Willis of Burley.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a celebration of life, with refreshments, from 2 until 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Albion Event Center, 895 S. Hwy 77, in Albion, Idaho.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
