BURLEY - Lynn Blauer, 61, of Burley, passed away after his battle with cancer on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at Cassia Regional Medical Center, with his dear wife Kathy by his side.

He was born, Cecil Lynn Blauer, on April 27, 1954 in Burley, Idaho, the son of Cecil F Blauer and Merle (Cole) Blauer. He was the first of five children.

Lynn was raised on a farm in the View area, which included growing crops and tending livestock. He received his education in Burley and graduated in 1973. He attended Ricks College after high school and then served and LDS mission to the New England States Mission, in 1974. After returning from his mission in 1976, he spent the summer farming and met his wife Kathy in September on a blind-date arranged by mutual friends. He attended a semester at BYU University, returned home that summer and married his sweetheart Kathy on June 10, 1977, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.

They started their journey in Burley, where Lynn farmed with his dad. In 1979, they welcomed their first daughter, Jennifer. In the spring of 1980, they relocated their family to Rockford, Idaho, were Lynn managed the Rock Bottom meat packing plant. They welcomed a second daughter, Mindy, that year in May. He liked his work, however, farming was what Lynn was most interested in, so they returned to Burley, adding a son, Christopher, to their family in 1983, and another son, Curtis, in 1991, and have resided in Burley ever since.

Lynn really enjoyed scouting. He dedicated his time to earning his Eagle Scout award in April, 1972, which began many years of being a dedicated scout leader. He really liked spending time teaching, camping, and joining the boys in scouting activities. He also dedicated years to being a hunters’ safety instructor.

His hobbies included swimming in the summer and skiing in the winter. Hunting was something he loved, as well as target shooting. These were all hobbies he taught his children as well. They have a lot of fond memories of these times that they will carry them with for a long time to come.

He taught his children the value of hard work and included them in his farming responsibilities. They didn’t always appreciate the lessons of hard work back in their teen years; however, growing up and starting their own families has shown the true value of the lessons he instilled in them. He talked of the church often and all of its principles. He was ordained a high priest in 2002.

His most treasured moments and memories were times when he was able to be with all of his children and his grandchildren together. He was one who loved and honored his parents and siblings.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Kidd) Blauer; his four children, Jennifer (Larry) Herem, Mindy (Rick) Thompson, Christopher (Amanda) Blauer, and Curtis F. Blauer; seven grandchildren, Brayden, Austin, and Dexter Herem; Kaylee, Lily, and Alyssa Thompson; and Brooklyn Blauer; his parents, Cecil and Merle Blauer; his siblings, Michael (Shauna) Blauer, and Kathy Blauer.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bruce Blauer and Curtis Blauer; and his sister-in-law, Leslie (Michael) Blauer.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov 2, at the Springdale LDS Church, 519 E. 200 S., of Burley, with bishop Joey Christianson officiating. Burial will be in the View Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church.
