SUBLETT - Fredrick James “Jim” Rigby, a longtime resident of Sublett, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center, at the age of 74.

He was born Jan. 19, 1941, in Malad, Idaho, to Fredrick J. and Ardith Dennis Rigby. He graduated from Raft River High School and completed his education at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture.

He married Jeanette Willmore on Dec. 29, 1964, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. Following their marriage, they lived the next 50 years in Sublett, farming. He loved fishing and hunting, and spent as much time as he could doing it. Farming was his greatest passion and would do anything to keep his farm. He spent winters working at the box factory in Burley, helped set power poles for Raft River Electric, helped build I-84 from Cottrel to the Utah border, and then worked full time for seven years for Pacific Co-op in Burley. He then went to full-time farming.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many capacities. Jim was a quiet, intelligent, and extremely patient husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jeanette Rigby of Sublett; four children, Mary Kay D’Appuzo and Duane Rigby, both of Layton, Utah, Tony (Ria) Rigby of Sublett, and Becky (Michael) Strong of Murray, Utah; eight grandchildren, Tosha, Riley and Sam Rigby, Karlie and Garrett D’Appuzo, and Tariq, Malik, and Janessa Strong; and five siblings, Cheryl Thelin, Julie Parker, Tom (Dena) Rigby, Steven (Ann) Rigby, and Vickie (Dennis) Lindsay.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers-in-law.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Malta LDS Church with Bishop Dallan Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Sublett Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Our family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at Parke View for the love, kindness, and care they gave Jim.
