BURLEY - Rosendo Garcia Torrez, 90, of Burley, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley, surrounded by his family.

Rosendo was born in Bronte, Texas, Oct. 18, 1925, to Jesus and Juana Garcia Torrez. He received his education in Texas. He served honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He married Rafaelia Medina Vasquez in Levelland, Texas, Jan. 31, 1948. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Rosendo was a member of St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley.

He is survived by his children, David V. Torrez (Rosario) of Rupert, George Torrez and Ruben Torrez of Burley, Zulema Esparza (Jorge) of Brigham City, Utah, Daniel Torrez of Burley, and Paul Torrez (Deanna) of Heyburn; his siblings, Isabel Jose Torrez, Maria Cruz, Guadalupe Cervantes, and Juanita Cruz all of Ropesville, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Rafaelia Torrez; three sisters; and three brothers.

A vigil service will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with the rosary beginning at 7 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with the Rev. Father Julio Vicente as celebrant. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley. Military rites will be provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization.
