Marilyn O. Baily RUPERT – Marilyn Odene Baily, a 77-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.

Marilyn was born October 28, 1943, in Burley, Idaho. She was the only daughter of James “Earl” and Mary (Smith) Sorensen. She lived her entire life in the Rupert area and graduated from Minico High School in 1961. After graduation, she started working at a local bank. A couple years later she met Royce Baily, and they were married May 1, 1963. She loved helping Royce on the farm and raising her daughters. Marilyn enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, traveling, and going on long drives. Her husband, Royce, passed away in 2003. Marilyn then spent her time managing the farms, visiting her daughters, loving her grandchildren and traveling to Africa, Alaska, Hawaii, and Belize. About three years ago she rekindled a friendship with a high school classmate, Gary Bywater. She and Gary spent the past three years enjoying life together; fishing, bird watching on the veranda, and taking leisurely drives around the Minidoka county.

Marilyn loved to laugh, she loved watching her grandchildren grow up, and truly loved talking and getting to know people. She never knew a stranger.

She is survived by her two daughters, Cathi (Thayne) Ketterling, and Cari (Jason) Moodie; and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Andrew, and Jessica Moodie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce; her daughter, Cami; and her mother and father.
