Ann E. Lloyd RUPERT – Ann Elnora Lloyd passed away at the age of 81 on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, with her husband, and son, Larry, by her side.

Ann was born on September 21, 1939, in Rupert, Idaho, to Charles and Anna Freiburger. She was the youngest of nine children and was a lifelong resident of Rupert. Ann graduated from Minico High School in 1957, and married Larry J Lloyd on January 16, 1958, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Ann made people happier by just being around her. She was kind, caring, compassionate, and welcomed everyone with her infectious smile and conversations. Ann devoted her life to raising five rambunctious kids and made the family home a place where all her kids’ friends wanted to be. As a mother she didn’t try to change her children, but she encouraged them to be who they were meant to be. Camping trips were always great family adventures that Ann patiently orchestrated to make sure everybody had what they needed and were well fed! Ann always welcomed people into her home. She had numerous and various interests and hobbies (reading, embroidery, baking).

Ann was a woman of strong faith in God and prayed for her friends and family daily. She had a true passion for supporting the St. Nicholas Catholic Church and school. Ann served as a school cook for 15 years. A generation of children looked forward daily to school lunch, particularly her chili and cinnamon rolls! Her kids fondly remember her dressing up as a witch on Halloween while serving with her ‘wicked’ smile.

Ann was an outgoing volunteer for her community. She was an active member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Women’s organization for 50+ years and led many people to Christ through her Bible studies. As a member of the Pink Ladies at Minidoka Memorial Hospital, Ann served thousands of hours volunteering and serving in officer positions. She had a great time being involved with the Red Hatters and enjoying the activities and camaraderie. For decades Ann prepared and delivered food for the Meals on Wheels program bringing much needed help to shut-ins and senior citizens.

In retirement, Ann and Larry traveled extensively all over the Southwestern United States, as well as Canada and Alaska. During their travels they always spent time with their children and grandchildren. They particularly enjoyed their trips to Alaska where they helped build their son and daughter-in-law’s cabin, visiting and fishing with their daughter and son-in-law, and seeing all the natural beauty Alaska has to offer. Being true ‘snowbirds’, Ann and Larry wintered near Yuma, Arizona, where they enjoyed attending swap meets and spending time with other snowbirds who became lifelong friends.

Ann is survived by her husband, Larry Lloyd; siblings, Mary Bellem and Frank Freiburger; children and spouses, Lawrence and Pene’ Lloyd of Rupert, Rodney and Patti Lloyd of Atqasuk, Alaska, Chris and Beverly Lloyd of Alice Springs, Australia, Roxane and Steve Brown of Anchorage, Alaska, and Mary and Paul Castronova of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna; siblings, Charles (Chuck) Freiburger, Edward (Ed) Freiburger, Martha Schell, Clara Linzy, Edna Mayer, and Bernadette Freiburger.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Minidoka Memorial Hospital and Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for their professionalism and compassionate care of Ann.
