Lonnie J
Wodskow
Oct. 30, 1944 - Oct. 28, 2021
Date of Service: Nov. 4, 2021
PAUL – Lonnie J Wodskow, a 76-year-old resident of Paul, passed away at his home with family present, Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Lonnie was born October 30, 1944, in Rupert, Idaho, to Walter Sidney and Emma Southern Wodskow.
Lonnie started his long, hard-working career at the young age of 15 at Cooper’s Ranch in Oakley, Idaho, spending his time enjoying the outdoors and cowboying. He then went to Utah to work for Anderson’s Ranch the following summer where he saved up all his money to buy his first 1958 Chevy Impala at the age of 17.
He met Diane Lee Fessenden who was having car trouble just down the road from his house and he stopped to help. A few weeks later, Diane ran through a fence on the Wodskow property. After these two encounters, the two began a courtship and were married August 10, 1974.
After working on the ranches, he decided to try his hand in the dairy industry as well as farming. He then found his next calling behind the wheel of semi trucks and started his driving career for the JR Simplot Company. His truck-driving career lasted for 35 years. He ended his long, hard-working career doing what he loved, truck driving, for Ag Express, where he retired happily.
He spent his off-time in the mountains hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends the most, but out of all his passions, bullshitting with anyone and everyone was his best. He looked forward to talks with a few of his best friends, Dick Pool, Lamont Dudley, and Dick Taylor on a regular basis. Everyone that he ran into turned into a friendship that lasted a lifetime. After retiring, he enjoyed taking day trips to wherever the road took him.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 47 years, Diane; children, Christina (Troy) Byington of Boise, Lonnie Jr. (Mindy) Wodskow of Idaho Falls, Scott (Shelly) Snow of Rupert, Melissa (Travis) Fenstermaker of Burley, Michelle (Manuel) Quilantan of Burley, and Michael (Karla) Wodskow of Herradura, Costa Rica; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wodskow; siblings, Beverly Mclaren of Portland, Oregon, Burt Wodskow of Rupert, and Aleah (Glen) Angus of Fallon, Nevada; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Watler & Emma Wodskow; his in-laws, Virgil & June Fessenden; sons, Shanon Wodskow and Brent Wodskow; two brothers, Randy Wodskow and Sidney Wodskow; three sisters, Norma Wodskow, Connie Mae Wodskow, and Lily Wodskow; and brother-in-law, Bob Mclaren.
In accordance with Lonnie’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 4, at Paul Cemetery, located at 550 W. 100 N., of Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Diane Wodskow at any of the D.L. Evans Bank locations.
