Billy Ray Spencer

Feb. 27, 1936 - Jul. 19, 2022

Date of Service: Jul. 29, 2022

Billy Ray Spencer BURLEY – Billy Ray Spencer, an 86-year-old Burley resident, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his daughter’s home, in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Billy “Bill” was born February 27, 1936, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, the son of Jess B. Spencer and Susanna M. Blakemore Spencer.

Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran, fought in Vietnam, and proudly served his country. Upon his retirement, he and his wife moved to Burley, Idaho, where he worked for Simplot until his second retirement.

Together Bill and his beloved Pat called Burley their home for 47 years. He was devastated when he lost her and ultimately just wanted to be with her again, and now he is.

My Dad was a wonderful father and loved his children - Teresa, Steven, Lisa, Kim, Eddie, Jeannette, Debbie, and Becky - with all his heart and would do anything for us. He was also the best grandfather any kid could ask for and that love, kindness and playfulness carried on through all our lives and the generations that followed. Maurice, a fellow Navy Veteran, was his best friend and knew Billy Ray would do anything he could to help you, and will be sorely missed.

Our hearts are broken now that he is gone, but he knew we loved him, just as we know he loved us.

A graveside service with military honors provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Rupert Cemetery, located at 450 N. Meridian, Rupert, Idaho.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
