Kiara Karina Cardenas

Aug. 15, 1999 - Nov. 20, 2022

Date of Service: Nov. 29, 2022

Kiara Karina Cardenas BURLEY – Kiara Karina Cardenas, 23, formerly of Burley, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022, in Logan, Utah.

Kiara was born to Jorge Cárdenas and Karina Cárdenas Cruz on August 15, 1999 in Burley, Idaho. Family and friends watched how the curly-haired little girl forever changed her father’s world and knew the father-daughter bond they created was unbreakable and unforgettable - a bond she was able to replicate with her own child. Kiara’s mom loved to joke with her and often times called her “Cuchifoo.”

She graduated from Frederick High School in Firestone, Colorado in 2017. Soon after, Kiara went on to study at the Paul Mitchell School where she obtained her degree in cosmetology in 2021. After obtaining her cosmetology degree, she kick started her career doing what she loved, and most recently worked at Eden and Emerald Salon & Co in Riverdale, Utah.

Kiara went from the shy girl standing in her father’s shadow the day her mother was laid to rest to becoming a beautiful young lady. She was met with many challenges in her young life, but she kept going forward and she would eventually become a mother herself. Even though Kiara didn’t have her mom she would love her daughter just like her father Jorge had demonstrated his love for her. Kiara was blessed with a beautiful baby girl with Austin Munns on May 21, 2020 and named her Natalia Karina Munns. Much like Kiara was her father’s world, her daughter Natalia was Kiara’s center of attention. She loved to meticulously pick out mother-daughter matching outfits. As a proud mother finding any way to create special memories for her child, Kiara recently outdid her planning to celebrate her daughter who turned two in May.

Like many young teenage girls, Kiara became obsessed with Justin Bieber. She often asked people to ask her anything about him so she could show them how much she knew about her idol. Her brothers had the typical sibling rivalry relationship with her that turned into nothing but deep love for each other as they experienced hardship and life changes without a mother to comfort and guide them. Becoming a young adult, she developed a deep connection with her nephews Dominic and Donovan and looked after them as if they were her own children. Due to the distance of living far from each other, she and her sister tried to make the most of the time they spent together.

Kiara was surrounded by a lot of love from her family. Her uncle César Cárdenas played a strong role in her life and was like her second father. Kiara was the God daughter to Raúl and Rosa Ríos and was embraced by Raúl, Jr., Anabel, Cynthia, and Vanessa Ríos who oftentimes referred to her as their little sister.

Kiara Karina Cárdenas Cruz, beloved mother, daughter and sister, unexpectedly passed away on November 20, 2022 at the young age of 23 in Logan, Utah.

She is preceded in death by her mother Karina Cárdenas Cruz and paternal grandmother Consuelo Magaña. She will be lovingly remembered by her Father Jorge Cárdenas and stepmother Patty Cárdenas, brother Jorge Cárdenas, Jr, (Karen Mendoza), brother Oscar Cárdenas (Katia Cardenas), nephews Dominic and Donovan, sister Esbeidy Cruz, niece Catalèya Isabel, and stepsiblings Betty Carrillo (Abraham Carrillo), Ramón Michel, Daniel Pérez, and Luis Angel Pérez, maternal grandmother Bertha Correa and paternal grandfather Sergio Cárdenas.

An evening vigil service will be held from 5-7 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 28 at St. Thérèse Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Avenue in Burley, Idaho. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, November 29 at St. Thérèse Little Flower Catholic Church and followed by a burial at Gem Memorial Gardens, 2435 Overland Ave, Burley, Idaho where she will be laid to rest next to her mother.
