Apr. 26, 1930 - Dec. 15, 2022
Date of Service: Jun. 10, 2023
BURLEY – June Maxine Stoller, age 92, passed away peacefully at her Pomerelle Place home in Burley, Idaho, on December 15, 2022.
June was born on April 26, 1930, in Olympia, Washington, as the daughter of Chester Raymond Croll and Lillie Christine Croll (Westman) and was the oldest of five children.
June met her husband, Gerald D. Stoller, when he was in the military service while stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. They were married on November 10, 1951, in Olympia, Washington, and moved to Idaho after Gerald was discharged from the service. Gerald and June were married for almost 69 years and had three children, Dennis Raymond Stoller (Tigard, Oregon), Lois Marie Tupyi (Wilder, Idaho), and Larry Dean Stoller (Meridian, Idaho).
June came to a very different life when she moved to Idaho and became a farmer’s wife. She found herself cooking for large crews of workers on a regular basis, driving a hay truck and laboring over farm tasks in a climate that was very different from that of her old home in Olympia, Washington. June was resilient and came to love living in Idaho. When her husband, Gerald became a rural mail carrier, June took up a career as a school secretary and held that position at Paul Schools and later Heyburn Schools, working for many years with Earl Boyd as school principal. June loved the many children she met and relished in their successes and cared deeply when they needed help.
June was devoted to her family and always welcomed the many friends of her family to gather at her place for fun and dinner. She became very skilled at cooking for a crowd. While June didn’t grow up doing a lot of camping and fishing, she came to love the outdoors, riding her horse to mountain lakes in the Sawtooth Mountain Range with Gerald for many years. June always chose to see the best in people and would regale others with stories of their successes and accomplishments, perhaps with a little embellishment at times, but always with great pride. June loved having fun with others and was always ready for a game of pinochle, although she was a fierce competitor who hated to lose.
June’s career as a school secretary made her well known within the community. During her life, June was active in multiple organizations including the Burley Presbyterian Church, the Paul Methodist Church, the Eastern Star, the Grange, and the PTA. June loved music and was a loyal member of her church’s choir, singing well into her 80s.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents, Chester and Lillie Croll; and two of her siblings, Jack Croll and Lois Reynolds.
She is survived by her three children, Dennis (Debbie) Stoller, Lois (Basil) Tupyi, and Larry (Becky) Stoller; two of her sisters, Betty Hutt and Delores Saeger; seven grandchildren, Kody Ketterling, Kasey Ketterling, Becki Boyd (Ketterling), Kevin Stoller, Keri Walter (Stoller), Kristen Hassemer (Kadel), and Adrienne Clark (Kadel); and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family asks that if you wish to honor June in some way, please consider a donation to your favorite charity in her name. Cards and notes can be sent to the Stoller Family in care of Lois Tupyi at 24830 Boehner Road, Wilder, Idaho 83676.
A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Paul Cemetery, located at 550 West 100 North, in Paul, with Pastor John Ziulkowski officiating.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
