Stephen Scott Spevak

Mar. 15, 1957 - Dec. 17, 2022

Date of Service: Dec. 27, 2022

Stephen Scott Spevak RUPERT – Stephen Scott Spevak, a 65-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home.

Scott was born at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, Montana, on March 15, 1957; the youngest child to Louis Ludwig and Barbara Jo Stephens Spevak. The family moved to Rupert, Idaho, in the 1960s where he grew up farming and raising livestock. He attended St. Nicholas School and graduated from Minico High School in 1975.

On March 24, 1979, Scott married Kim Gutierez and became the father of his three girls, Tiffany Scott, Hailey Joe, and Stevie Marie. He made sure to teach his three girls all his ways but raising them on the Snake River, teaching them to water ski, was his favorite. He became Papa Scott to his grandchildren, and they became his pride and joy.

He spent most of his working years beside his best friend, Bud, at Hoffbuhr, Exc. After leaving Hoffbuhr’s, he became the City Superintendent of Heyburn and helped his dad on the family farm. He was a jack of all trades and made sure nothing went unfixed. Scott would give anyone the shirt off his back, even if he tried to act tough or put out by it, he loved to help and be involved.

Scott was known as the prankster of the family and would light up the room with laughter, even if the joke was on you. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his grandkids, and tinkering around with his pal, Mike, and coffee dates with Anson.

He is survived by his twin sisters, Patty (Ron) Stiles of Rupert, and Peggy (Larry) Duncan of Idaho Falls; his sister, Susan (Dan) Ball of Paul; his three daughters, Tiffany Spevak-Arrendondo, Hailey Spevak of Twin Falls, and Stevie (Kyle) VanBiezen of Twin Falls; his six grandchildren, Bella Tapia (15), Milly Tapia (12), Reagan VanBiezen (9), Sofia Arrendondo (8), Sloan VanBiezen (7), Michael Buck Fowler (7), and Madi Fowler (15); and along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins that he dearly loved. He was preceded in death by his parents Louis “Buck” Ludwig Spevak and Barbara Jo Spevak; and his brother, Louis “Louie” Samuel Spevak.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, followed by a celebration of life at BJ’s Sports Tavern at 3 p.m.
