Dennis Melvin Widmier HAGERMAN – Dennis Melvin Widmier of Hagerman, Idaho, passed away on Sunday May 14, 2023, at his home in Hagerman, at the age of 68.

Dennis was born on December 1, 1954, in Rupert, Idaho, to Robert Oliver and Thelma Sanford Widmier. He was the eighth of nine children born to Bob and Thelma. Dennis was raised on the family farm in Paul and attended Minico High School. He married Debra Gail Lees in December of 1973.

Dennis held various jobs throughout his career including working on the family farm, lead foreman for Valley Sprinkler, but most of his life was spent in the carpentry and finish trades. He was a master carpenter who could build anything anyone asked or was able to think in their mind. His tile work was a sight to behold and a thing of beauty that brought each homeowner joy and brought him great pride in a job well done.

He also took immense joy in building toys such as trucks, marble runs, benches, and bookshelves for his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his three children, Kaleb (Abby) Widmier of Fredonia, Wisconsin, Aliah (William) Perry of McCall, Idaho, and Kyall (Autumn) Widmier of Eureka, California; and his five grandchildren, Owen Widmier, Symon Widmier, Kendon Perry, Milah Perry, and Joden Widmier. His grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy.

Dennis was an avid fisherman, hunter, birdwatcher, and each of the dogs that he had, held a special place in his heart.

Dennis is also survived by two of his brothers, David Widmier of Winchester, Idaho, and Craig (Liza) Widmier of Mountain Green, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Thelma; his brothers, Bobby, Kirk, and Mike Widmier; and his sisters, Sheryll Mallory, Shery Brown, and Kathleen Widmier.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley. Interment will follow at Paul Cemetery.
