Lanny James Denton BURLEY – Lanny James Denton, a 72-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Monday, April 14, at Intermountain Medical Center, in Murray, Utah.

Lanny was born July 7, 1952, to Richard James and Anetta Virginia Denton in Garden Grove, California. He was raised with his brother, Richard; and two sisters, Ginny and Lisa. His younger years were spent in Fullerton, California. From an early age, he had a love for cars and could be found in the garage with his head under the hood. He loved loud music and fast cars. He and his brother, Richard, later became known as the “Volkswagen Mechanics”. For years to come, Lanny loved motorcycles, fast cars, loud stereos and tinkering around his shop.

Lanny met his first love, Pamela Jo, in 1974. Instantly, he became a father to her three growing boys and they later welcomed a daughter in 1975. The family could be found living their lives outside and adventuring around southern Idaho in a dune buggy or the Jeep. He had a gift for building the best and loudest stereo systems. During this time in his life, he was known as Mr. Stereo. Family and friends gathered each year for good food and rocking music as Lanny stood up front, lighting the fuses and creating a legacy that he would be passing on to his children and grandchildren.

Lanny worked at Amalgamated Sugar in Paul, Idaho, from 1974 until retiring in 2016. Lanny gained lifelong friends over the years. He worked in the boiler house and took his job seriously.

After losing his wife, Lanny and Linda Hull were reintroduced when they saw each other at Grace Church after meeting many years ago. They found friendship and love and were married March 2, 2024. The two of them loved to travel and recently took a trip through Wyoming and South Dakota, visiting Mount Rushmore and Sturgis. They brought joy to each other over the past two years and did everything together.

Lanny was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Denton; siblings, Richard Denton and Virginia “Ginny” McCombs; his wife, Pamela Denton; son, Mark Douglas Denton; grandson, Jesse James Denton; brothers-in-law, Jeff and Kelly Wadsworth; and sister-in-law, Vicki Brashear.
