BURLEY – Carol Juanita Judd Garcia, an 84-year-old former resident of Burley, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Sunset Estates in Ontario, Oregon.
Carol was born to Edna Palmer and Floyd Judd in January 20, 1941, in Burley, Idaho. She grew up in the Albion and Declo areas. She married Donald Stanley in 1956, and moved to the Boise area. They began their family in 1959, with the birth of a son; then, in 1960, a daughter was added to the family while they lived in Des Moines, Iowa. The family moved back to the Kuna area and welcomed another son and two more daughters before moving to Colorado in 1965. Carol stayed busy raising children, growing a huge garden and canning while also working at the local grocery store. She also drove the kids’ sports teams around and cooked for the hired help during harvest and on cattle drives.
In 1978, Carol divorced Don and moved back to Burley. She then married Joe Garcia. In Burley, she continued to grow a large garden and beautiful flower beds. She also worked at George Adams Café for some time. She was an amazing cook and loved to bake. One could stop by any time and be fed. She retired from the J.R. Simplot Company’s plant in Heyburn where she had worked for 22 years. As her health began to decline she was moved to Sunset Estates in Ontario, Oregon.
Carol is survived by her children, Billy Stanley, Sandra Valadez, Kelly Stanley, Leanne (Richard) Free, all of Oregon, and Connie Martinez of Rupert, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Inez of Idaho and Marsha of New Mexico.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley. Burial will follow at Declo Cemetery.
