Vera B. Nelson
BURLEY – Vera B. Nelson, age 85, of Burley, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center in Burley. She is now dancing with her sweetheart and our dad, Vern.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1926, in Burley, Idaho, the daughter of Francis Russell and Ora Josephine Brower Gibson. She received and completed her education in Burley. She married the love of her life, Grant L. “Vern” Nelson on Jan. 22, 1946. Together, they had four children.
Vera has a wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid bowler, a good card player, enjoyed watching game shows on television, doing word searches, putting puzzles together, and especially liked going for rides to check out the countryside. She was an outstanding homemaker and used her talents in sewing and crocheting to beautify their home. She also instilled in her children the love of reading. We will miss her with all our hearts.
She is survived by her children, Grant L. “Pete” (Linda) Nelson of American Falls, Cindy (Mike) Hotchkiss of Heyburn, and Steven K. “Skip” (Cheri Johnston) Nelson of Oak Grove, Oregon; her sister, Betty Redlin of Oxnard, California; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Becky Louise Nelson who died in 1952 at the age of four; and her brothers, Russell, Harold and Jay Gibson.
Vera requested cremation and a private family service will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home and Crematory Service of Burley.
