HEYBURN – Mary Bailey Wilcox, a lifetime resident of Heyburn, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Countryside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rupert, at the age of 87.

She was born on March 4, 1925, in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of Parley Hawkins and Mary Jane (Roderick) Bailey. She was the tenth of 11 children. She graduated from Heyburn High School in 1943, and was the valedictorian of her class. She married Glayde Hanks Wilcox on June 22, 1943, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. She worked as a librarian at the Heyburn Elementary School. Mary was active in the LDS Church and served faithfully in various callings during her lifetime. She served church missions to the Chicago and Denver temples with Glayde, and was a temple worker in the Boise Idaho Temple.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glayde; an infant daughter, Barbara; two sisters, Ann Gerratt and Edith Handy; and two brothers, Charles Bailey and Seth Bailey.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Wilcox (Linda) of Heyburn, Anita Carroll (James) of Plano, Texas, Marva Branch (Robert) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Karma Mickelsen (Michael) of Rupert, and Kim Wilcox (Melany) of Dayton, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Bailey of Burley, and Norman Bailey (Letta), and Keith Bailey (Gayle) both of Rupert; and a sister, Wanda Stimpson (Louis) of Heyburn.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the Heyburn Ward LDS Church, 300 S. 500 W., of Heyburn, with Bishop Brett Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the LDS Church Missionary Fund or the Perpetual Education Fund in care of the Rasmussen Funeral Home, P.O. Box 878, Burley, ID 83318-0878.
