Agnes Coleen Fowler Allen

ALBION – Agnes Coleen Allen, age 84, of Albion, Idaho, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 in Provo, Utah.

Coleen was born on Feb. 6, 1928, in Williston, N.D., the daughter of George W. and Mary B. Ludlow Fowler. Her parents moved her and her older sister, Jean, to Peculiar, Mo., where her father farmed. Her sister, Eileen, joined them in 1930. Coleen’s mother, Mary, died in 1932. Her father then married Velleda Ryerson and in 1939, the family moved to Minidoka County where the family was blessed with two more daughters, Carol and Bette. It was in Acequia, Idaho, that she met her sweetheart, Randall Lloyd Allen. They were married on Nov. 21 1947, in Rupert, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. The family moved multiple times due to Randall’s employment. While living in Dutch John, Utah, Coleen broke her back during a family vacation in Idaho. However, that did not stop her from doing the things she loved – family, gardening, camping, genealogy, etc. She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by six children, George (Judy) Allen of Soda Springs, Idaho, Barbara (Nephi) Christensen of Green River, Wyoming, Steven (Marla) Allen of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Karl (Susan) Allen of Declo, Idaho, Forrest (Lisa) Allen of Salem, Utah, and Dwight (Kathy) Allen of Enoch, Utah; a son-in-law, Kaye Young of Burley, Idaho; three sisters, Eileen (Phil) West of Twin Falls, Idaho, Carol (Dennis) Burkes of Meridian, Idaho, and Bette (John) Wodskow of Albany, Oregon; 51 grandchildren; 114 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Coleen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randall; her daughter, Mary Young; one sister, Jean Smith; and a grandson, Kade Allen.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at the Albion LDS Church with Bishop Randy Brackenbury officiating. Burial will be in the Rupert Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
