BURLEY – Roy Lowell Judd, 72, of Burley, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.
Roy was born on June 22, 1944, in Declo, Idaho, the son of Floyd DeWayne and Edna Marie Palmer Judd. Following his graduation from Oakley High School, Roy attended Idaho State University and the College of Southern Idaho. He married his beloved companion of 52 years, Carla Jean Gorringe, on March 13, 1964, which union was later solemnized in 1983, in the Logan Utah Temple.
Roy knew hard work throughout his lifetime. He worked as a rancher/horseman for much of his life; he also worked at the J.R. Simplot company, as well as Kloepfer Concrete, where he had worked the past 12 years prior to his passing.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Roy loved the Lord and served him in numerous ways. He was a faithful home teacher and enjoyed the associations he made in that capacity.
Roy’s love of animals had a constant presence throughout his life. He enjoyed racing horses, team-roping and training horses. Above all else, Roy had a profound love for his family and enjoyed being with them. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and he enjoyed sharing in the things he loved to do with his family, especially horse-riding, four-wheeling, hunting and camping.
He is survived by his dear wife, Carla; six children, Jim (Debbie) Judd of Declo, Cheri (Carl) Byrd of Almo, Lori (Sam) Adams of Connor Creek, Carl (Kelly) Judd of Burley, Alex (Heather) Judd of Galt, Calif., and Mickey (Tim) Lacey of Burley; his mother, Edna Marie Palmer Nosker; sisters, Carol Garcia of Burley, Inez Trujillo of Emmett, and Marsha (Arley) Stump of Veguta, New Mexico; 26 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Marlene Lance; and two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Petersen and Mike Lance.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, at the Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Ave., in Burley, with Bishop Bruce Bean officiating. Burial will be at the Oakley Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. preceding the service at the church.
