Genevieve ‘Jenny’ Udy Elison

MALTA - Lillie Genevieve "Jenny" Rose Udy Elison passed away in the afternoon of Sunday, July 10, 2016, in Meridian, Idaho, surrounded by her family at the age of 96.

Jenny was born in Standrod, Utah, on Jan. 2, 1920, to Oscar Rose and Lillie Agnes Badger. She was their tenth child. Her mother passed away in childbirth before Jenny turned two, and as a result, she was raised by other very special people in her life. She attended school in Standrod and Brigham City, Utah, and graduated from Malta High School in 1937. Soon after, she fell in love with and married Rex Udy and they were blessed with two children, Jerry and RaNae. Jenny felt that being a mother brought real meaning to her life. She dearly loved her children. Jenny and Rex were sealed to each other in the Logan Utah LDS Temple in 1982 before his death in 1983. They had the opportunity to live in and travel to many places during their life together.

Jenny was a hard worker and held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including a position in civil service on a military base in Alaska. She enjoyed planting and working in her yard and was very good at it. She loved all kinds of flowers and always surrounded her home with beautiful displays of them. Jenny also loved to read and spend time with family.

Jenny learned to crochet from her mother-in-law and she had a real talent for it. She also loved to knit. Later in her life, she developed a love for creating beautiful hand-crocheted dresses and accessories for dolls. She made more than 100 different dolls, many of which have become precious gifts to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jenny used her talents to serve others. She spent a great deal of time making dolls and baby hats and blankets for those in need. She spent 11 years of her life doing genealogical work, extracting names from historical records for documentation.

Many years after her husband's passing, Jenny found companionship in an old high school friend and widower, Elmo Elison. Jenny was very fond of Elmo and they were married for ten years until he passed away.

Throughout her life, Jenny considered her family her greatest treasure. The happiest times in her life were those spent with friends and family. She always looked forward to visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Jenny had great faith in and a love for her Savior.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rex Udy and Elmo Elison; parents; siblings; and a grandson, Geoffrey Oman; and is survived by her son, Jerry (Delma) Udy, and daughter, RaNae (Gus) Oman; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the friends and caregivers from The Cottages Assisted Living in Meridian for their support and service.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Malta LDS Church with Bishop Dallan Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Valley Vu Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 15, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday preceding the service at the church.
