Wallace Roger Rickert
BURLEY - Wallace Roger Rickert, 73, of Burley, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at his home.
Wally was born February 9, 1943, to Lucille (Hartley) and Harold Rickert in Rupert, Idaho. He received his education in Rupert, graduating in 1961. He was then drafted by the United States Army and served his country in Vietnam.
Wally worked for various farms when he was younger and then worked construction for the majority of his life. There wasn’t much he didn’t know about construction equipment and he was a perfectionist in any project he undertook. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and working crossword puzzles. Wally was never married, nor did he have any children of his own, but he always went out of his way to attend his niece and nephews school activities or sports events. He was a firm believer in receiving a good education and always pushed them to do better.
He is survived by his brother, Dallas (Lynn) Rickert of Boise; his sister, Marlene Zollinger of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one brother-in-law, Bill Yates of Rupert; two nephews, Kris (Kendra) Rickert of Colorado Springs, and Justin (Deanna) Rickert of Washington; one niece, Trinity Zollinger (Jett Stanley) of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and several great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Janice Yates.
Wally was buried at the Paul Cemetery, July 18, and a graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at the Paul Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rasmussen Funeral Home of Burley.
