Kelsy Gillette Austin
PAUL – Kelsy Gillette Austin, 36, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and formerly of Paul, peacefully left this earthly-life, surrounded by her loving husband and family, due to heart related complications on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah.
Kelsy was born Oct. 16, 1979, in Burley, Idaho, to Jerry and Roanne Rich Gillette. She attended Paul Elementary, West Minico Junior High School, and graduated from Minico High School in 1998. She continued her education at Brigham Young University - Idaho, where she received an associate degree and later graduated from LDS Business College. She married her eternal companion, Dallas Morgan Austin, July 9, 2003, in the Bountiful Utah LDS Temple.
She worked one summer at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, and then at Overstock.com. She loved scrap-booking, making beaded-jewelry for her aunts, nieces and friends, and crocheting scarfs and baby blankets (thanks to Grandma Austin). She never had much idle time in her life!
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed her calling as Relief Society pianist.
Her family was a high priority; Raleigh, Kysa, and Shay Shippen, and Bodie, Tayte, and Tyce Walker knew they were adored by and loved by Aunt Kelsy. She so enjoyed playing ping-pong with Giff, Staff, Damon, and Jordan. There was a lot of kidding and teasing that went on with her and Uncle Randy Winkler, Tim Perrigot, Shane Stevenson, and Donovan Hartley, as Kelsy was a BYU and 49ers fan, the harassment from them was continual - something she lived for! She had a love of kneeboarding and jet skiing in the summer with her husband, snow skiing with friends in the winter, and fishing with her dad. These were high priorities on her list of fun things to do. Two other important individuals in Kelsy’s life were Rob Hemsley and Jake Buckley; they were truly the “brothers” she never had.
She is survived by her husband, Dallas “Tex”, and their dog, Romo (yes, she’s a Cowboy fan too); her parents, Jerry and Roanne Gillette; two sisters, Kaly (Ty) Shippen of Paul, and Kirby (Andrew) Walker of Pinedale, Wyo.; her nieces and nephews; and her maternal grandmother, LaRue Rich of Pingree; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, who deeply loved her.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at the Paul LDS Stake Center, 424 W. Ellis St., in Paul. Burial will follow at the Paul Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the church, preceding the service.
In lieu of flowers and because of the profound influence that Tim Perrigot and Ty Shippen had in Kelsy’s life, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Minico High School athletic department in memory of Kelsy.
