Date of Service: Oct. 4, 2013

Harold Lester Holton

RUPERT – On Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at the age of 90, the Lord took from us Harold Lester Holton. He was born in Wilder, Idaho, on April 9, 1923, to Myran and Lela Holton, as a sibling to 11 brothers and sisters.

Harold was enlisted in the United States Army from 1944 until 1946. A true patriot, he loved to relive and talk about those proud years with family and friends.

Harold married the love of his life and soul mate, Dorothy Rule Holton, on Sept. 30, 1946. He passed away only two days from being married 67 years. Together, they drew a homestead claim and moved to Rupert in 1959, where he farmed until retirement in 1983.

Harold is survived by his wife, Dorothy Holton of Rupert; his children, Ron Holton (Evelyn) of Rupert, and Sue Holton Berlin (Steve - deceased) of Heyburn; as well as his six sisters, Opal Holton Martin of Vale, Ore., Ruby Holton Gould of Caldwell, Virgie Holton Robertson of Nampa, Lillian Holton Sherbon of Kuna, and Martha Holton Emery of Wilder. Harold leaves behind four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Herbert, Virgil, Laurence, and Herschel; two sisters, Ruth Hall and Gertrude Curts; and his son-in-law, Steve Berlin.

Harold was a loving father and grandpa who loved working on and improving his machinery. Even at the age of 90, he didn’t live long enough to finish all of his projects – from large machinery to lawn mowers. Harold loved his 4-wheelers, cats, hunting, and fishing on his son’s boat “Mr. Limit.” He finally caught the one that was to big to bring in. He always had a nice garden – up to the very end of his life.

We will miss him sitting in his chair, watching the old westerns he enjoyed so much – even if he had already seen them several times.

The family would like to thank Dr. Margo Saunders and staff, as well as the Minidoka Hospital and Home Health.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Pamela Meese.
