Bryce W. Allred

BURLEY – Bryce White Allred passed away on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the age of 92.

Dad was born on Sept. 5, 1921, to Eldon Pratt and Amy Leola White Allred at their home in Fairview, Wyo. He was the third child and third son of seven children. He lived his younger years in Fairview going to a one-room school house and graduating from high school in 1939. His life was filled with many challenges. He remembers the Great Depression of the 1930s and in 1942, World War II. Their family lived modestly and worked hard.

In 1945, Dad was playing the drums in a band at a stake dance and met Mona Nield, his beloved wife. They were married on July 26, 1946, in Fairview, Wyo. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Feb. 11, 1948, and have been best friends and companions not only for this life but for all eternity.

Dad had many jobs throughout his life, but he always enjoyed the years he had as a dairyman. Due to his health, in 1978, he left the dairy business. Not wanting to retire completely, he had the privilege of serving as the Cassia County’s building inspector for ten years. During this time, he used his expertise in wood working to remodel many areas of the court house and to make beautiful pieces of furniture for his family.

Dad was not a worldly man – he was giving and compassionate. He lived his beliefs and taught by example. The values he taught will always be a blessing to all who knew him. He treasured his faith, his wife, and his family. There was no doubt about the immense love he had and he shared that love with those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mona Allred of Burley; his children, Paula (Virgil) Hieb of Declo, Sheila (Lyle) Jeppesen of Sugar City, Idaho, Kevin (Brenda) Allred of Burley, and Ramona (Merlin) Wilson of South Jordan, Utah; his siblings, Loa Burgon, Garth Allred, Val Allred, and Kay Allred; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Morrell Allred and Enid Allred; and a grandson, Brian Chase Allred.

The family expresses their appreciation to Parke View Rehabilitation and Care Center and Intermountain Homecare for the compassionate care given to our father.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Unity LDS Church, 275 S. 250 E., of Burley, with Bishop Mark Mabey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 1 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
