BURLEY – James Marshall Thompson, age 63, of Burley, passed away unexpectedly due to a sudden illness on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley.
Jim was born May 2, 1950 to Ralph V. and Juanita M. Baker Thompson in Caldwell, Idaho. During his youth, he attended schools in Minidoka and Cassia counties. His work as a mechanic exposed him to a variety of different employers, including, Gordon Paving, Minidoka Irrigation District, Kloepfer Concrete and A&B Irrigation. As a hobby, he loved drag racing and took advantage of every opportunity to race. Jim was a giving man and he was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his best friend and companion, Cindy Hill; his children, Tammy Mullard of Kimberly, Wendy Jackson (David Burling) of Paul, and Scott (Tedi) Thompson of Twin Falls; his siblings, Bob Smithee (Sylvia) of Burley, Bill Thompson (Debbie), and Doris Shockey (Brad) all of Paul; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and the two boys, Rascal and B.J.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Thompson; his mother, Juanita Stimpson; and a half-brother, Carl Smithee.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where friends and family may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Burial will be in Gem Memorial Gardens.
